Golden boys and jade maidens attend to the scriptures on your left and right. The precious radiance of the Three Lights (Sun, Moon, Stars) illuminates the entire chamber. "The heavens are clear, the air is pure; the Three Lights shine brilliantly. The golden chamber, the jade room; the Five Sacred Mushrooms sprout in life. Mysterious energy, purple canopy, come and envelop my form. Immortal boys and jade maidens, bring forth numinous power for me. The Nine Emperors share their splendor; the Three Primes ride together in harmony. I ascend upon the purple canopy, rising into the Imperial Court."

Close your eyes and visualize the Emperor-One Venerable Lord, like an infant, four inches tall, residing within the skin beneath the nose at the philtrum (the "human middle"), presiding over the assembly of the hundred spirits, seated on five-colored clouds. Visualize the Emperor-One Venerable Lord in the empty mystery, his mouth aligned with your own, listening to your recitation of the Jade Scripture.

The main body of the scripture consists of the Great Cavern Jade Scripture in thirty-nine chapters. The Great Cavern Jade Scripture has been transmitted for a long time from the Han altar. In my youth, I indeed perused and recited it, but did not comprehend its meaning. Elders said: 'Mostly it contains the names of the hundred spirits within the body; one cannot deduce it through literary reasoning.' Later, I obtained versions from the Maoshan lineage altar and the Zitong Wenchang scripture, comparing them. Each had differences—perhaps due to scribal errors or phonetic corruptions—major similarities with minor variations, each having strengths and weaknesses. However, one does not dare lightly alter the sacred scripture. In the Yisi year, during the Chrysanthemum Month, a former National University instructor from Yuzhang, the Ancient Xiong Linchu, abandoned officialdom to study the Dao, seeking to understand the tenets of the Great Cavern Scripture. He came to the mountains from the Xu River and Magu (Mountains), bringing with him a copied version of the Great Cavern Scripture containing annotations of its meaning by the Perfected Zhao of Supreme Mystery from former times. Within it, mostly the names of the hundred spirits within the body, their jurisdictions and residences—mountains, forests, towers, terraces, ponds, and lodges—are all clearly explained. In general, it focuses on the gates of life and doors of death, guarding the feminine and embracing the masculine, blending the hundred spirits, constantly visualizing them each residing in their place and attending to their duties. Fellow mountain-dwelling Master Zhou Lanxue, sharing my interest, although approaching eighty years of age, with keen hearing and clear sight, and vigorous brushstrokes, transcribed two copies, which he showed me. Reading it once, it became clear. Truly, one could call this a rare encounter in my late years. Alas, this humble old man cannot cultivate and practice it, yet cannot bear to set it aside. I have thus copied one volume for myself, to often ponder and savor, and to transmit to later students. Having finished copying, I return the original. Still hoping the Master will concentrate exclusively on reciting and practicing, refining daily, returning to youth from old age, not disappointing this encounter. And I offer this eulogy:

The Great Cavern Jade Scripture, essence of the ultimate Dao,

Truly contemplate Emperor-One, guard the feminine, embrace the masculine.

The Three Parts and Eight Scenes, blend and whirl the wind,

Auspicious mist, celebratory clouds, doors blocked yet passages open.

Taiyi commands the spirits, destroys demons, expels the malign,

Holding talismans and registers, knots and nodes all empty.

The Three Passes flow freely, the nine qi surge,

Generations emit jade orchids, heaven's root grows lush.

Verifying the singular straight path, attaining rank as immortal elder,

Long preserving the scenery's transformation, wandering free in gemstone palaces.

Someday in Penglai and Langyuan, we shall meet with a smile.
